Mark O’Connor
With three Grammy wins, seven CMA Awards, and multiple national fiddle, guitar, and mandolin champion titles, Mark O’Connor’s music and career truly defies categories.
In his new partnership with Skyline Artists, Mark has created the “Mark O’Connor Duo” for performing arts centers. The concert features both his originals and classics, and it highlights his violin, guitar, mandolin and vocals along with his wife, Grammy-winning Maggie O’Connor.
Going back several decades, he’s been a member of legendary ensembles the David Grisman Quintet, The Dregs, and Strength In Numbers with Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, and Edgar Meyer.
His solo career includes the multiple Grammy-winning album “New Nashville Cats” featuring his hit “Restless” with Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill and Steve Wariner; and the hit sequel song “Devil Comes Back To Georgia” with Charlie Daniels, Johnny Cash, Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart on his Grammy-nominated “Heroes” album. Then there are recordings with Yo-Yo Ma, “Appalachia Waltz” and “Appalachian Journey” which sold one million copies and 250+ symphony performances of his “Fiddle Concerto.” His TNN tv show “American Music Shop” had a four-year run with guests ranging from Bo Diddley to Emmylou Harris. Currently, due out in April 2021, new release of solo guitar – “Markology II”.
Mark also continues to offer his string instrument workshops “The O’Connor Method,” the country’s fastest-growing violin method, as well as, his beloved holiday program “An Appalachian Christmas” featuring great special guests, and symphony programs too.
Now his Mark O’Connor Duo with his wife and violinist Maggie O’Connor surveys his entire career along with new material. Their incredible musical chemistry led to yet another Grammy award, this time for Best Bluegrass Album “Coming Home.”

“The show was phenomenal, thank you. People loved it! Looking forward to the next time!”
“There are child prodigies, and then there’s Mark O’Connor, a child prodigy on steroids who held a crowd of 300 at The Egg in rapt attention Saturday night, March 11th. Now 61 years old, he’s married to Maggie, another great fiddle player who accompanied him and occasionally sang. He is widely considered the greatest fiddler who ever lived. He set out to prove it in a three-hour presentation that covered styles ranging from bluegrass to western swing, from gypsy jazz to classical…”
“Mark and Maggie O’Connor were a joy to work with in advance of their arrival and then also here in Springfield for hospitality, rehearsal and performance. They are both personable and yet professional in their approach to their music and playing with our Orchestra. Their talent is amazing and they blended well with the SSO [Springfield Symphony Orchestra]. Their second encore Verbovaya Doshchechka (The Willow Board), a traditional Ukrainian folk song was a very moving finale to the evening. I would recommend them highly to other presenters and orchestras.
Mark and Maggie did draw new patrons to the venue to see them and we hope to be able to keep them coming back.”
“The first impression might simply be one of awe: Strummed chords, acrobatic single-note runs and clusters, and diamond-point harmonics come at you with a velocity that leaves you stunned, or giggling at the audacity of it all.”
